Résumé
Bia
Ocougne
Ballet dancer, actress,
psychologist, and body therapist
Graduated in Psychology from PUC/São Paulo, Bia has been working in this area since 1978, giving special emphasis to psychophysical integration.
Her education and artistic work, specially as a ballet dancer an choreographer, have ultimately complemented and blended into psychology in a comprehensive evaluation of the relation between body and mind. In this aspect, she attended several courses, congresses, workshops and meetings. The major events were the following: lecturer in the 12th International and 1st National Congress of the Psychology of the Expression (Rio de Janeiro 1988); and teacher of Integration Through Motion in the "Body Approach" Course at the Instituto Sedes Sapientae (São Paulo 1979 to 1981).
Since
1972, she has been dedicating her efforts to corrective gymnastic exercises,
developing special techniques for relaxation, massage, breathing, expression,
and body consciousness. In this, she has also associated dance with therapeutic
body work.

From her educational background in dances, several courses stand out: in the United States with I. Kuniramam (1979/80); in India with G. Ramani Ranjan Jena and Bindu Juneja/ Madhavi Mudgal (1995/96/97/98/99); in Indonesia (Bali) a training period with the I Made Djamat Company (1980/82/83/84/88/90). Since then, she has returned to Indonesia several times, dedicating herself to the study of the dance and the Balinese theater. In São Paulo she took Butho and studied under professor Klaus Viana. Bia also studied modern and contemporary dance techniques with Sonia Mota, Susana Yamauchi, Jennifer Brilliant, Jane Lewis and Kay de Langle, among others. She graduated in Ginastique Holistique from the Association Des Eleves Du Dr. L. Ehrenfried, from 1989 to 1991 in France. She also studied danse du ventre with Jamila Saliempour, Ahmed Faisaily, Ghassan Fadiahah, and others.
In her professional activities, Bia seeks to balance her schedule between body therapy and her artistic work..
She has
been working as a body therapist since 1972,
having opened her studio in 1985—the Estúdio Bia
Ocougne - located in an elegant district of the city. There, she
gives regular gymnastic and dance classes, including
Indian, Balinese, flamenco, contemporary, and belly
dance classes, facial exercise classes to pregnant women and to babies, and also
dispenses personal care. Outside her studio, a few major projects carried out by
Bia Ocougne are prominent: gymnastic and dance classes in New York (December 86
to March 87); Assistant Professor to Ivaldo Bertazzo in São Paulo (1977 to
1983), and to Odete Flarks (1970 to 1973); several special courses to companies,
institutions, groups, etc., in São Paulo, inland cities, and locations in other
Brazilian states.
Her
prosperous professional career has led Bia Ocougne to create the Integrative
Motion, a series that can be grasped by any individual, even those lacking any
knowledge in body work. The Integrative Motion acts as a stimulant to
flexibility and vitality of the body, through physical exercises and dance, in
addition to relieving stress through massage, muscular stretching, and
breathing. The overall result is in an agile, lively, and harmonious body able
to achieve a new postural balance, ultimately providing further clarity to the
solution of its own conflicts.
